Now that the dust has settled following the mid-term elections, we can get back to the daily routine. This may be a grim reality for many elected city officials facing budget shortfalls, disappearing jobs, and a housing market that simply isn't going the direction everyone is hoping for. Added to this is an aging infrastructure and a general anxiety over how all of this is going to end.
Here's one more thing to think about. Water (of all things) is becoming the focal point of contention around the globe. Maybe your city has not mandated rationing (yet), but expect higher water rates and increased regulation as water use becomes the hot button in the 21ST century.
